Flame
A startpage for your server that manages apps and bookmarks with built-in editors, plus search, themes, weather widget, and Docker integration.
About
Flame is a startpage you run on your own server, with a design inspired by SUI. It acts as a hub for your applications and bookmarks, with a search bar and a weather widget on the homescreen.
It is built for homelab users who want their services one click away. Apps and bookmarks are managed through built-in GUI editors, so there is no file editing, and Flame can pick up apps automatically from Docker labels or Kubernetes ingress annotations.
Key features
- Create, update and delete applications and bookmarks from built-in GUI editors.
- Pin favorite items to the homescreen for quick access.
- Integrated search bar with local filtering, 11 web search providers and support for custom ones.
- Authentication system protects your settings, apps and bookmarks.
- Customization includes custom CSS, 15 built-in color themes and a custom theme builder.
- Weather widget shows current temperature, cloud coverage and animated weather status.
- Docker integration automatically picks and adds apps based on container labels.
- Kubernetes integration adds apps based on ingress annotations.
Requirements
Runs as a Docker container on port 5005 with a data volume. The backend uses Node.js with SQLite, so no external database is needed. The weather widget needs an API key from Weather API, whose free plan is enough since Flame makes under 3K calls per month. Docker integration needs the Docker socket mounted.
Ways to run it
- Docker (recommended)
- Docker Compose
- Multiarch Docker image for ARM devices
- Skaffold
- Without Docker (wiki guide)
