About

Papra is a minimalistic document management and archiving platform built for long-term document storage. It is for anyone who wants a digital archive for things like receipts and warranties, so documents can be stored, forgotten and retrieved when needed.

Beyond manual uploads, it can import documents from email or a folder, extract text from images and scans for search, and tag documents automatically with custom rules. Documents can be organized in organizations shared with family, friends or colleagues, and shared with external users with expiration dates and password protection. There is also a CLI, an API with SDK and webhooks, and support for multiple languages.

Key features

  • Upload, store and manage documents in one place.
  • Organizations for sharing documents with family, friends or colleagues.
  • Full-text search with advanced filters.
  • Tags and automatic tagging rules.
  • Forward emails to a generated address to import documents.
  • Automatic import of documents from a folder.
  • Text extraction from images and scanned documents for search.
  • Share documents with external users, with optional expiration dates and password protection.

Requirements

Runs as a Docker container on port 1221. You need to set an AUTH_SECRET environment variable, and for real instances you should generate it with openssl rand -hex 48 or similar. The README does not list database, memory or other service requirements.

Ways to run it

  • Docker (ghcr.io/papra-hq/papra:latest)
