Pinepods
Podcast server with web and mobile clients. Manage subscriptions, downloads, and listening history with multi-user accounts and gpodder sync.
About
Pinepods is a podcast management system written in Rust. One server serves your whole household, with subscriptions, history, queue, downloads, and settings stored in your own database so they follow you between devices.
It suits people who want their podcasts and listening data on their own hardware. A built-in gpodder-compatible sync server lets you keep using apps like AntennaPod, and native clients exist for Linux, Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, plus a CLI client called Firewood.
Key features
- Audio and video playback with variable speed, chapters, and transcripts.
- Smart playlists, manual playlists, saved episodes, favorites, and listening history.
- Search across Podcast Index, iTunes, and YouTube, and inside your own library.
- Built-in gpodder sync server so apps like AntennaPod keep working.
- Per-podcast auto-download and serial auto-play.
- Detailed listening stats and dozens of themes plus a custom theme creator.
- OPML import and export, plus push notifications via ntfy or webhook.
- Native apps with CarPlay and Android Auto support.
Requirements
A PostgreSQL or MySQL/MariaDB database and a reachable Valkey or Redis server. The API connects to Valkey/Redis before it starts listening, so the API cannot start if that server is unavailable.
